Celestial Being
In the Anno Domini continuity, the term Gundam is the generic designation of a line of unique and highly effective mobile unit developed by Celestial Being. Distinct from concurrently introduced weapons, suit torsos contain a core generator system known as the GN Drive, capable of sustaining independent unit function for an indefinite period of time without need of refuel. In addition, onboard propulsion recycles the generator’s GN particle exhaust for high-speed, virtually unlimited output. The particle exhaust disrupts the use of conventional radar and a range of wireless communications, much like Minovsky Particles in Universal Century. Celestial Being internal communications and sensor mechanisms are protected from self-interference with an unspecified countermeasure. In addition to armor composed of durable E-Carbon, all suits are installed with a GN particle based physical barrier system, for use in such circumstances as independent atmospheric reentry.
The uniform cockpit used throughout the production line is situated beneath the generator cavity, with a hatch that opens under the chestplate. A flight suit custom-designed for the cockpit interfaces with on-board systems from a center-back socket that connects with a plug on the seat surface. To prevent hijack, iris or retinal scanning technology biometrically verifies pilot identity upon unit activation. Alternatively, the voice of the designated pilot can remotely activate the unit via wireless communication. Multiple support arms ergonomically cushion the seat from excessive shock.
Most armed factions within the Anno Domini continuity have yet to attain practical application of beam technology in mobile suit development. The standardization of beam-based firearms and melee weapons within the Gundams’ armament is indicative of the relatatively advanced level of technology introduced in their construction, even though present beam generation remains subject to diffusion and other forms of disruption.
As of the sidestory Mobile Suit Gundam 00P, the GN-000 O Gundam is the only known 1st-generation suit within the Gundam line, and only five completed GN Drives are stated to exist. However, ten 2nd-generation prototype suits are said to have been planned, each named after one of the twenty-two Major Arcana in the Tarot. Only four completed 3rd-generation Gundams have thus far been introduced in the series proper, and it is unclear if any new GN Drives have been built since 00P. Leif Aifman speculates the Gundams to be roughly a decade or two more advanced than Union mobile suits. For unspecified reasons, the Gundams cannot be tomographically sectioned.
GN-000 O Gundam
- Designed by Kunio Okawara[1]
- Manufacturer: Celestial Being
A Gundam-type mobile suit powered with a GN Drive, which intervened during a battle in the Kurdish Republic in AD 2301. Its GN particle release pattern resembles a pair of wings. It is otherwise similar in appearance to the original RX-78-2 Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam, and is known to have been built by Celestial Being as a prototype for the GNY-001 Gundam Astraea, which was in turn an Exia prototype. Known armaments include a shield and a beam rifle, and possibly a pair of beam sabers.[1] Its pilot and allegiance are currently unknown, although one could assume the pilot to be a first generation Gundam Meister.
It is the only mecha in 00 thus far designed by Kunio Okawara. Okawara has designed the majority of the Gundam-type suits in the meta-series since 0079.

The Kyrios is variable to waverider mode, and its accelerative capacity far outstrips conventional mobile suits, and lends a strong advantage in hit-and-run tactics. The Kyrios is also able to combine with Dynames in Mobile Armor mode. The weapons container used with its flight mode can be armed to support the unit through multiple missions. Though its design emphasizes mobility, the suit’s capability in melee combat is nevertheless a force to be reckoned with. To accommodate for flight mode, all limbs and armor is to some extent variable; the unit’s hip and ankle joints are fully rotatable, and the head and forearms can be retracted. In some instances, the Kyrios does not appear to give off GN particle exhaust during terrestrial flight, suggesting that it might possess a secondary means of propulsion.
The name Kyrios is derived from kuriotes, the Greek name for Dominions.
-
- GN Beam Submachine Gun
- A beam rifle designed for low-damage high-speed continuous fire. The detachable grip functions as a wireless remote controller, and the barrel may be independently mounted on the underside of the unit’s right wrist during flight mode. May be alternated with a pair of optional missile launchers.
- GN Beam Saber
- The Kyrios is armed with two swords, assumed to be comparable in functionality with that of the Exia’s standard-length beam sabers. Stored in the panels behind the unit’s hip.
- GN Shield
- The sharp end of this custom arm-mounted shield can be separated into a chela-like claw manipulator, capable of armor piercing. A solid heat blade is concealed behind the axis. Seperates to dock the unit’s left knee-fin during variable flight mode. Can also generate a GN Barrier.
- Container (for use with Flight Mode)
- An optional container of roughly the same volume as the Kyrios, dockable between the suit’s legs during variable flight mode. Capable of carrying multiple weapons or functioning as a VLS. An upwards of 40 warheads can be launched from the container’s 14 missile tubes in under 2 seconds, though it is unclear if this is achieved with submunitions. The bottom panels can be opened for use in carpet bombing.[2]

The GN-005 Virtue boasts sufficient firepower to annihilate numerically superior forces independently. As close-quarters combat capability is sacrificed for specialization in the use of mid-range assault weaponry, the unit’s armor volume is double the standard by necessity.
A spherical GN particle barrier is generable for further reinforcement of defense and miscellaneous other applications if all four condensers within the black compartments of the armor are present, undamaged, and not otherwise in use. Though incapable of deflecting solid projectiles at a melee range, the barrier feature is comparable to the beam shield technology seen in Universal Century. GN particles are additionally utilized in an unspecified weight-reduction process that auguments unit mobility, preserved during shutdown for ease of transportation with constant generator activity.
The characteristic bulky armor of the Virtue is in fact detachable, and is typically secured with under-surface belts. It may be purged for use of the unit’s alternate high-mobility mode, GN-004 Nadleeh. Purged parts are launchable as obstructive weapons, but the damage that results is insignificant to units of similar armor class to the Space-Use Tieren.
The name Virtue is derived from the Christian angelic hierarchy.
-
- GN Bazooka
- The single most destructive beam-based armament currently employed by the Gundam Meister team. The double grips are removable from their rotatable docks and may function as wireless controllers. An additional grip dock beneath the weapon body may be used when resting the back end on the mobile suit’s shoulder as per standard firing position. Grip position may be otherwise altered as the situation requires. Recharge and cooling requirements prevent immediate repeat fire. For variation to the weapon’s higher-output Burst Mode, the barrel core extends, and the rear feed is secured to the openable chestplate aperture of the Virtue’s GN Drive cavity. The Burst Mode’s first shot may be fired without prolonged charging. The Burst Mode after firing requires a minimum of 360 seconds to recharge. Maximum output with support fire from the GN Cannons permits the single-blast elimination of targets up to the size of a battleship.
- GN Cannon
- Two freely rotatable cannon turrets mounted on the back casing of the GN Drive, simultaneously fireable to the GN Bazooka in Burst Mode. The flexibility of these weapons allows for ranged targeting in multiple directions. If unnecessary for use in an offensive capacity, the GN particle condensers that implement the cannons’ beam discharge may be exposed from their armor to permit barrier generation. Handheld operation of the cannons is possible in Virtue’s alternate light-weight mode, Nadleeh.
- GN Beam Saber
- Two blades normally docked behind the unit’s armored shin panels, for use in melee combat should the need arise. Though flagged as non-primary equipment, the weapons’ performance is in fact superior to that of Carbon Blades and Sonic Blades.
GN-004 Gundam Nadleeh
The uncovered high-mobility mode of the GN-005 Virtue. The hair-like connector cords that project from the Nadleeh’s head are in Virtue mode used to mediate the operation of the systems within the armor plating. Based on production designation, it may be hypothesized that the GNY-004 Plutone was a prototype to the Nadleeh.
The name “Nadleeh” is a term interchangeable with “Two-spirit,” used by the Navajo tribes to denote a male spirit and a female spirit living in the same body. This meaning is supported by Nadleeh’s slightly feminine appearance, as opposed to Virtue’s decidedly masculine appearance.
Tieria was forced to purge the Virtue armor to reveal Nadleeh to save himself when the Human Reform League attempted to capture his suit.
-
- GN Cannon
- The 2 shoulder mounted dual barrel cannons are now handheld cannons for the Nadleeh. The GN particle condensers that implement the cannons’ beam discharge may if unnecessary for use in an offensive capacity be exposed from their armor for miscellaneous use. Mounted above the shoulders on the back casing of the GN Drive in the unit’s heavy-armor Virtue mode.

An unarmed carrier ship operated by Celestial Being, designed to dock up to four removable mobile suit containers. The docking ring is revolvable, allowing for the suit within the top container to access the electromagnetic linear catapult at the head of the ship for optional high-speed launch; conventional launches may be carried out directly from the containers. Automated repair systems for the Gundams are included within the mobile suit containers.
The Ptolemaios is designed specifically as a carrier and rear support unit for the Gundams, and relies primarily on the mobile suits for protection. Additionally, as the ship’s power reserves are charged from the Gundams’ onboard GN Drives, if all four units are launched, its running time is drastically reduced. When at least one of the Gundams are docked, the ship has demonstrated the capacity to produce a highly concentrated GN particle barrier.
The name Ptolemaios is derived from the Greek name of the astronomer Ptolemy, and the crew of the ship has informally dubbed it after his name in English.[1] “CBS” stands for “Celestial Being Ship.”

Appears in the side-stories Mobile Suit Gundam 00P and Mobile Suit Gundam 00F. A test-type mobile unit, which serves as the intermediary design between the 1st-generation O Gundam and the 3rd-generation Gundam Exia. It is a testbed for a number of experimental technologies, incorporated in pursuit of a greater general utility versus the O. The GN Drive control mechanism differs from that of the O, and benchmarks with both higher output and higher instability.
The two ear-like protrusions that extend backwards from the sides of the head structure appear to be a design feature unique to the Astraea, but their purpose is thus far unknown. In 00P, where the unit is initially introduced, its paint scheme is white with blue and red highlights. As of 00F, 15 years later in the 00 continuity, the scheme has been altered to red with grey highlights, and the face has been covered with a black mask.
The unit name derives from the goddess Astraea, who is associated with the card Justice — one of the twenty-two Major Arcana in the Tarot. The other Gundam test-types follow this naming theme.
-
- GN Beam Rifle
- Primary armament. Weapon appearance is similar to that of the RX-78-2 Gundam, with a built-in sensor on top. Performance versus the Exia’s rifle is unknown.
- GN Beam Saber
- The Astraea is armed with two beam sabers, docked behind either side of the waist. As the weapons themselves are test types, their performance versus the Exia’s beam sabers is unknown as of this time.
- GN Shield
- Standard equipment. Less streamline in appearance versus the Exia’s shield design, with no sharp edges.

A prototype to the Dynames, which appears in the side-story Mobile Suit Gundam 00P. Customized as a testbed for an array of sensor technology, installed in multiple locations across the unit. To accommodate, effective armor and equipped armaments are reduced to a bare minimum. The installed GN Drive and related devices are of the same series as that used in the Astraea, but the vernier propulsion design is the basis of the Dynames hip thruster. The revolvable equipment dock on the unit’s left shoulder is a prototype to that used in the Dynames. Other features include movable panels attached to the front skirt, and a chest sensor located upon the left breast. The purpose of the sensor bar on the right shoulder is presently unknown.
Sadalsuud (سعد السعود lit: luck of lucks?), also known as Beta Aquarii, is the brightest star in the constellation Aquarius, which is associated with the image of the water bearer. The same image appears upon the face of the card The Star — one of the twenty-two Major Arcana in the Tarot. The other Gundam test-types follow this naming theme.
-
- Revolve Bazooka
- Primary armament. A multipurpose physical-round firearm with a revolver-style cylinder, variable in function based on the type of munitions loaded. Designed to accompany the sensor system as a practical testing device for the unit’s aiming capabilities. An on-board sensor is situated beneath the barrel. A rotatable grip is attached to the top surface.
- Beam Saber
- The Sadalsuud is armed with two beam sabers, stored at either side of its rear thrusters. As the weapons themselves are prototypes to the Dynames’ beam sabers, their performance is unknown as of this time.
- Sensor Shield (official designation unknown)
- A shield-like device normally secured to a revolvable dock on the unit’s left shoulder, with movable panels attached at either side of the sensor plate in the middle of the outwardly-faced surface. A larger cylindrical sensor is located in the compartment furthest from the shoulder, used for the imaging of regions outside the effective reach of the unit’s frontally-oriented fixed scan range.
GNY-002 Gundam Sadalsuud (Type-F)
As of the sidestory Mobile Suit Gundam 00F, the redesignated Sadalsuud (Type-F) has undergone significant armor upgrades, but not to such a degree that the effectiveness of its sensor system is compromised. A second sensor shield is mounted on its right rotatable shoulder dock, but no weapons are presently known to be equipped. The unit remains incapable of active participation in combat.

Appears in the side-story Mobile Suit Gundam 00F. Over armor design comparable to that of the Dynames, the Plutone sports a number of armor-plated devices fed by partially external tubes linked to the back of the GN Drive. Openings in the plates reveal circular yellow device faces, notably on the unit’s shoulders, hips, and elbows. There are similarly colored vents on either side of both legs. The purpose of this equipment is likely similar to identical vents on the Dynames and Kyrios. Currently known armaments include a long arm-mounted GN Shield and a beam rifle.
Pre-series information released for 00F indicates that the suit bears a deep connection with the past of Chall Acustica, a high-ranking female officer of Celestial Being, who at one time served as a Meister of a test-type Gundam. Based on production designation, it may be hypothesized that the Plutone was a prototype to the GN-004 Nadleeh.
The unit name derives from the god Pluto, who is associated with the card Judgement — one of the twenty-two Major Arcana in the Tarot. The other Gundam test-types follow this naming theme.

At nearly twice the mass of the Gundam Virtue, the mainstay mobile suit of the Human Reform League is comparable in design to a bipedal tank, markedly less advanced and less manueverable than the mass-production types of the other major powers. Though the unit’s heavy armor and firepower are relics from an older generation of combat vehicles, the preservation of these throwback features translates to practical dependability in general-purpose warfare[1] — the reasoning behind its continued deployment. A number of purpose-specific variations and custom types exist. The Tieren’s screenless, cramped cockpit is situated in its upper torso. The piloting display is head-mounted. A range of optional weapons may be docked to the unit’s forearms and hips.
The term Tieren (铁人 Tiě Rén?) means “iron man” in Chinese, and may be pronounced in Japanese as Tetsujin (鉄人?) — perhaps a reference to Tetsujin #28, the first “giant robot” anime series ever produced. The MSJ-06 II-A Tieren is the Anno Domini counterpart to the MS-06 Zaku II from Universal Century, and shares the unit’s production designation and signature mono-eye sensor.

Possessing minimal aerial maneuverability due to its massive inertia, the High Mobility Type Tieren is in fact so named due to the practical utility of its hover function in high-speed surface combat. Basic vertical lift is provided by engines within the interior of the unit’s lower legs, but the thrusters within the waist-attached wing-fins are necessary for directed movement and balance. The wing-fins have limited variability, and may be secured either horizontally or behind and parallel the torso. Optional armor present in the Ground Type are removed where possible or replaced with airfoil panels.

A Tieren variant customized for artillery use, capable of highly accurate targeting from well beyond standard range. In terms of torso structure, it is drastically different from other units of the Tieren line. The central chest structure is shifted ventrally to allow the base mount of the unit’s smoothbore cannon to occupy the standard position of the Ground Type’s dorsal box. As the top surface of the torso is cleared for a barrel rest, the Tieren’s signature mono-eye system has been substituted with a pair of rotatable optical sensors on the sides of the chest protrusion. The cannon is used with the unit’s partially variable tripod position, wherein balance, stability of aim, and recoil handling are improved by locking the knee joints and deploying an extra anchor-leg from the expanded posterior of the torso. Already low on manueverability due to extremely high mass, the unit is rendered completely immobile in tripod position, and is thus defensively incapable of independent action.

Custom-crafted from the ground up to best express the physical and cognitive enhancements of the super-soldier Soma Peries, the Taozi is a highly-maneuverable general-purpose mobile suit that performs with comparable superiority to standard-model Tieren variants in any terrain. Primary propulsion is supplied from the back of the unit’s lower legs, with selective activation of the prominent thrusters upon its movable shoulder-mounted shield plates for directional guidance. Fine control is permitted with an additional six thrusters. The water used by the unit as propellant is stored in the tank attached behind its waist. All limbs may be purged if necessary.
In addition to a secondary T-shaped mono-eye rail along the top of its head, the unit is installed with an acutely responsive sensor system and an onboard processor capable of keeping up with the dramatically increased data load. Due to the extreme strain the pilot is subjected to at the rates of acceleration the unit can reach, only a fully trained super-soldier can safely exploit the unit’s full potential. Shortly after its introduction, the unit’s head-mounted display is replaced with a more standard screen interface.
The term Taozi (Chinese: 桃子) means “peach” in Chinese — a fruit that signifies longevity in Chinese folklore, traditionally depicted in pink.

A previous-generation variable mobile suit manufactured by the Union, still a mainstay of the Union Military as of 2307 despite gradual retirement in favor of its successor, the Flag.[4] It is also the basis of the AEU Hellion and Enact. The Realdo supports a smaller variety of standard-issue armaments than the later models of its line, and is incapable of in-flight transformation. The unit’s flight mode functionality is comparable to that of a fighter aircraft, and its simple backwards-collapse variation is manually accomplished with the aid of a groundcrew. This feature is semi-automated in all derivative designs currently known.
The plane-like plate structure typically incorporated into the chest and shoulder design of units within the production line is in the Realdo uniquely secured along the back of its upper torso. Where the cockpit and abdomen are vertically rotated backwards in flight mode, the angle of the upper torso does not change with regard to the legs. The linear rifle may in flight mode be secured to the anterior sleeve of the back-plate, which extends above and behind the unit’s head.
“VMS” stands for “Variable Mobile Suit.”

A Union variable type MS. It is capable of transforming between mobile suit and flight modes in mid-air without assistance, although this is a difficult maneuver that requires a highly skilled pilot. The Flag’s primary armament is a linear rifle that fires electromagnetically-accelerated live rounds, while its melee armament comprises a sonic blade which can also function as a plasma sword.

| Pilot | Graham Aker |
Graham Aker’s custom repainted Union Flag that has twice the speed of a standard Flag. Additional modifications include reinforcements to the joints and backpack, an anti-beam coating on the fuselage, and a new model rifle designed by the Iris Corporation. Drawbacks include the pilot experiencing 12 Gs of force at top speed, even with G-Force dampeners active.
Graham Aker’s Custom Union Flag with the modifications has been shown to fight on par with Celestial Being’s Gundams, Exia and Dynames. In Dynames’ case, Graham is able to dodge incoming shots and even force Lockon to use his beam saber in defence.
However, Fon Spaak explains that to allow this Union Flag to fly two times faster than an ordinary Union Flag, the material used to make the armor is weaker to make it lighter. Thus, the ordinary Union Flags might have stronger armor than this customized Union Flag. Reference from Gundam 00F File No.02.

Manufactured in large numbers and exported outside of the AEU member nations. For that reason, there are cases in which they’ve been used by terrorists and others, making it the second most common mobile suit in the world. Though it has features, such as flight form support, in common with the latest unit, the Enact, there’s a huge gap in their abilities, destining it for retirement. There are many variations on the head portion and armaments.

The latest MS developed by the AEU. A solar energy model, this MS can accept a direct supply of power from the orbital elevator’s generation system. The basic design is noted by Union scientist Billy Katagiri to be heavily based on the Union’s Flag and shares many features such as the flight form transformation and armaments.
The AEU, whose orbital elevator is still in an incomplete state, has staked its organization’s prestige on the development of this new solar energy-adapted mobile suit. The demonstration unit operated by AEU ace pilot, Patrick Corlasawar, was announced on the same day the Human Reform League celebrated the tenth anniversary of the completion of its own orbital elevator, only to be heavily damaged by Gundam Exia during its demonstration.
