Celestial Being

Aeolia Schenberg (イオリア・シュヘンベルグ?)

An academic born in 2051, known to have made significant contributions in the areas of physics and engineering; believed to be the founder of the private paramilitary organization Celestial Being, which pursues the complete eradication of armed conflict. Of the few manuscripts of his still in print as of the beginning of the 24th century, the most notable is a 2090 dissertation describing a potential solution to the global fuel crisis — the theoretical basis of the combined orbital elevator and photovoltaic energy system, the construction and defense of which he foresaw to employ humanoid machines not unlike mobile suits. As the level of technology available at the time of publication was insufficiently advanced to realize the project, his views received little public attention. Following 2101, he is said to have dedicated himself to the advancement of space colonization, and is thought to have eventually died off-planet. In 2307, at the initiation of Celestial Being’s aggressive military intervention, he appeared in a worldwide broadcast announcing the existence and intentions of the organization. Aeolia soon then became the main target for journalists or reporters, trying to find out what he was intending to do.

The name Schenberg may be a reference to the Brazilian electrical engineer and physicist Mário Schenberg. His historical significance bears a resemblance to that of the Russian rocket scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, the real-world originator of the orbital elevator concept.

Gundam Meisters

Within the organization, members designated to pilot mobile suits of the Gundam production line are referred to as Meisters (マイスター?), and are typically addressed by alias. As such, the names in the entries below are codenames.[2]

Setsuna F. Seiei (刹那・F・セイエイ?)

Having been discovered by Celestial Being at the age of 14 for having special potential as a pilot, he is currently a Gundam Meister for their organization. He can be described as taciturn and comes off as a knowledgeable young man. Resides in Japan when not on Celestial Being duties.[3]

Setsuna’s real name is currently unknown as several different names have been used when referring to him; Setsuna is his Gundam Meister codename. Six years prior to being recruited into Celestial Being, he was a child soldier in the war-torn Kurdish Republic. [4] He murdered his own parents under Ali Al-Saachez’s influence in order to prove his devotion to God,[5] and hence born a deep hatred towards Ali. Setsuna believes that war can only be stopped through direct confrontation, and therefore has little tolerance for diplomats and politicians, believing that their “peace talks” only lengthen the conflict and cause more casualties.

Despite his reclusive personality and common loyalty to the rest of the organization, he is more open to those outside of Celestial Being, partly due to his temper and arrogance. Tieria Erde has expressed disapproval over this, believing that his brash actions will breach the code of secrecy amongst the members of Celestial Being. Setsuna’s identity is known by Marina Ismail, princess of Azadistan, because of a chance encounter and Setsuna’s brash attitude. Because of his personal history and his relationship to Marina, Setsuna keeps a tight watch on Marina’s rule of Azadistan, even making personal visits to the royal palace to speak to her. Although the circumstances of their “friendship” are quite chaotic and unlikely, they seem to maintain some respect for each other, as Marina has never told anybody of Setsuna’s secret, even with her dislike of the Gundams.

Lockon Stratos (ロックオン・ストラトス?)

Decided to join Celestial Being after losing his parents to terrorists in Ireland; because of this, he loathes terrorists. He has an identical twin; each year, they bring flowers to their parents’ grave. However, Lockon has made a habit of not being seen by his brother. As the eldest pilot, he is considered the team leader of the Gundam Meisters, and sports a more easygoing, flamboyant personality as compared to the other Gundam Meisters. He owns an orange Haro to aid Dynames’ defense when sniping.[3] He is also a capable sharpshooter with conventional sniper rifles.

Allelujah Haptism (アレルヤ・ハプティズム?)

  • Voiced by: Hiroyuki Yoshino
  • Age: 19 (Episode 1-11), 20 (Claim made by Allelujah in Episode 11. Possibly Episode 12 onwards.)
    Height: 186cm
    Birthdate: Feb. 27, 2288
Other Designations: E-0057 (used by Super Soldier Special Duty Organization)
  • Unit: GN-003 Gundam Kyrios

Spent his childhood as an orphan in the Human Reform League. He is usually gentle and quiet.[3]

Allelujah’s left eye is grey, and most situations, Allelujah’s hair completely conceals his right eye from view. While generally gentle and rational compared to the other Gundam Meisters, he has another harsher, unstable, and outright sadistic personality, named Hallelujah inside him. When the Hallelujah persona emerges, his hair shifts to cover his left eye and his right iris is shown to have a golden hue. All indications seem to point that he harbors a grudge against the Human Reform League for conducting superhuman experiments on children, of which he was one of the subjects. The Hallelujah personality emerges when he sensed another like him, like the Human Reform League soldier, Soma Peries. Hallelujah has commented that he exists primarily as the embodiment of Allelujah’s crueler and more violent desires, permitting Hallelujah to take over when Allelujah experiences a moral dilemma pertaining to his actions.

Tieria Erde (ティエリア・アーデ?)

A boy with a rare kind of beauty, his history, nationality and origins all a mystery. Within his gentle tone, he can give a sense of cold intentions.[3] Values the mission above all other issues, including life, and doesn’t show any ‘concern’ for his teammates. Tieria seems extremely loyal to Veda, and will go to any length to ensure the secrecy of Celestial Being remains what it is, a secret, even if he has to kill other Gundam Meisters himself to achieve this end. Compared to the other members of Celestial Being, Tieria seems to be more disagreeable, generally not socializing with any of his comrades, and often expressing disapproval of them, including Setsuna F. Seiei, Allelujah Haptism, and even his “superior”, Sumeragi Lee Noriega. His eyes seem to glow with a digital, rainbow-ish hue when activating the mobile suit GN-004 Nadleeh from GN-005 Virtue. A similar effect occurs when he interfaces directly with Veda.

 Team Trinity

Johann Trinity (ヨハン・トリニティ?)

Oldest of the three siblings, Johann pilots the Gundam Throne Eins. Undertaking the mission to eradicate the world’s strife, he begins armed interventions with his younger siblings Michael and Nena. A calm person who faithfully handles his given mission while he commands his problematic brother & sister. A good marksman, he handles the firing of the GN Mega Launcher equipped on the Gundam Eins.

Michael Trinity (ミハエル・トリニティ?)

Younger brother of Johann, Michael pilots the Gundam Throne Zwei. Shortsighted, he immediately bares his fangs at people who oppose him. Similar to his personality, he favors brutal tactics for mobile suit combat and specializes in attacks with the Zwei’s custom wireless all-range weapon, the GN Fangs. Said to dote on his younger sister, Nena, he has a sister complex on one hand while also abiding by and complaining about orders from the eldest brother, Johann.

Nena Trinity (ネーナ・トリニティ?)

Youngest member of Team Trinity, Nena pilots the Gundam Throne Drei. Simple in personality, she displays self-centeredness to an extent. She doesn’t change her style in battle, laughing even while opposing the taking of lives. Her Throne Drei stores a large quantity of highly concentrated, condensed GN particles and employs a GN field that transfers particles to other units and interferes extensively with communications. She’s the strong support within Team Trinity. Habitually smiles and makes a V-sign with her fingers. Like Lockon and Fon, she owns her own Haro which is dark blue in colour and is as big as the Haro used by Amuro Ray from Mobile Suit Gundam.

She seems to be green in combat situations, and broke down in the middle of combat aboard the Ptolemaios when the ship was struck by enemy fire.[3] On the other hand, she does seem to value her relationship with the rest of the Celestial Being members of Ptolemaios, and sometimes even covers up for the Gundam Meisters, such as not reporting to her superiors that Setsuna F. Seiei had taken an unauthorized detour in the Kingdom of Azadistan.

A member of Celestial Being and the designated Meister of a prototype Gundam unit; later appears as a commander of Fereshte in 00F. Selected for recruitment by Veda on the basis of her academic performance and her ranking in Power Loader competitions. Luido Resonance believes that other qualities may have influenced Veda’s arbitration.

Designated pilot of the GNY-002 Gundam Sadalsuud. Though Meisters are typically referred to by codename, 874 is designated only by number. For unspecified reasons, she does not appear before the other members of the organization. Physically, she looks younger than 15, but her eyes seem far older.

Fon Spaak (フォン・スパーク?)

  • Age: 18

A protagonist in the sidestory Mobile Suit Gundam 00F. A criminal forced by Celestial Being to serve as a Gundam Meister at Fereshte. Eco Calore (エコ・コロンエ?)

  • Age: 30

A character in Mobile Suit Gundam 00F. He’s a strong believer of Aeolia Schenberg’s words of eliminating wars all over the Earth. He was once a candidate Gundam Meister but as he is inferior to Setsuna and the current Meister, he was removed and is now a pilot of Fereshte.

Sherilyn Hyde (シェリリン・ハイド?)

He was enlisted in a special forces squad known as Chobu [8] , with the purpose of capturing a Gundam after encountering Setsuna’s Exia in Ceylon [3]. Intelligent and experienced, Sergei is skilled in both strategy and combat, and upholds a quiet sense of honor and respect for life that sometimes conflicts with his orders to procure a Gundam.

Soma Peries (ソーマ・ピーリス?)

A “supersoldier” with the rank of Second Lieutenant sent to aid Sergei in his goal to capture a Gundam. She had been enhanced by scientists from the Super Soldier Special Duty Organization. She is a designer baby, enhanced using nanomachines. She appears to share a telepathic connection with Allelujah’s alter ego, Hallelujah.  AEU

Patrick Colasour (パトリック・コーラサワー?)

  • Voiced by: Kenji Hamada [1]
  • Age: 28
    Birthplace: France
  • Height: 176cm
  • Weight: 57kg
  • Blood Type: O
  • Birthday: January 1

AEU forces ace pilot with the rank of Lieutenant. A brash, hot-blooded guy.[3] Though he proved himself an ace pilot by keeping an undefeated streak in 2000 simulation battles, he was defenseless in his encounter with Gundam Exia and had his MS Enact heavily damaged in the fight. He was also shot down by Gundam Virtue during Celestial Being’s assault on Moralia. He seems to be something of an immature playboy.

Kati Manekin (カチ・マネキン?)

A Colonel in the unified AEU armed forces, she is the commanding officer of the AEU contigent sent to the HRL’s Taklamakan Desert.

 Kingdom of Azadistan

Marina Ismail (マリナ・イスマイール?)

  • Voiced by: Ayumi Tsunematsu [1]
  • Age: 24
    Birthplace: Azadistan
  • Height: 162cm
  • Weight: 48kg
  • Blood Type: A
  • Birthday: January 12

The first princess of Azadistan. Due to trade embargoes following the completion of the solar energy pipelines, Azadistan can no longer export its fossil fuel reserves, and consequently is faced with an economic crisis.[3] Azadistan has recently became a monarchy and she was elected as sovereign to restore the national economy by the Azadistani Parliament. She embarks on a diplomatic mission to seek aid from other members of the AEU, but has met with little success due to Celestial Being’s constant “interference”. During one trip she meets Setsuna and “saves” him from British police officers, believing him a member of her nation. During their conversation, Setsuna confessed to her his identity as a Gundam Meister “Setsuna F. Seiei”, but she believed it was a cruel joke. However, after a successful hostage rescue played in part by Celestial Being, Marina believes that Setsuna is indeed a Gundam Meister, and possibly looks upon him in slightly better light. A later visit by Setsuna to Marina’s palace room at night confirms his identity, though this visit was short. She believes that war can be avoided through diplomacy, yet she is comparably politically naive. Lately, her efforts have brought an understanding between her kingdom and the Union in terms of the development of solar energy in her country.

Shirin Bakhtiar (シーリン・バフティヤール?)

  • Voiced by: Michiko Neya [1]
  • Age: 25
  • Height: 169cm
  • Weight: 49kg
  • Blood Type: B
  • Birthday: October 20

A chaperon and adviser to Marina Ismail at the Azadistan Royal Palace. She has great political knowledge but cannot take part in the Azadistan government in an official capacity because women are prohibited from being involved. Consequently, her words and behavior have a bite to them.

Massoud Rachmadi (マスード・ラフマディー?)

An Imam in Azadistan with strong influence in the conservative factions of the Azadistani Parliament. Known as “Rasa”[9] among the conservative factions, when Marina decided to accept the role of princess, he volunteered to become her opposition in order to contain the conservatives from getting radical and violent[10]. His sudden abduction by Ali’s forces had touched off a coup d’état with radical elements of the Azadistani army leading it against Marina and the rest of her reformist-leading government. He was later tracked down and rescued by Setsuna, Lockon and Hong Long, and returned to make a joint statement with Marina, which temporary quelled the rebellion[11].

 PMC Trust

Ali Al-Saachez (アリー・アル・サーシェス?)

The man whose voice recording was being broadcasted across the Kurdish battlefield as of the appearance of the O Gundam in AD 2301. Currently a top field officer under the private military contractor known as the PMC Trust. He has some relationship with Setsuna’s past. After Setsuna found his secret base where he was hiding the kidnapped Massoud Rachmadi, he was left with no doubt as to the identity of the pilot of Exia. Saachez considers himself a mercenary, and flies the latest AEU Enact mobile suit. However, France has promised him the mobile armor Agrissa in a secret mission under his alias Lieutenant Gary Bradge of the 4th Independent Squadron.

In the past Saachez attempted to create a group of freedom fighters and convinced young children that they were fighting in the name of God. It is made clear in the same episode that Sachez commanded children to murder their own parents as proof of faith and devotion [5]. Thus Setsuna’s hatred towards him is due to the fact that Saachez influenced him to murder his parents. Saachez uses his new mobile suit in the desert assault and ambushes Exia. Exia is nearly destroyed by the Agrissa until the appearance made by Nena and her Throne Gundam Drei.

 Others

Robert Spacey (ロベール・スペイシー?)

  • Age: 50

He is a Mobile Suit development historian. He was originally a political historiographer, but after experiencing the revolution brought by Celestial Being when he was 30 years old and coincidentally seeing a special variation of Exia in action, he switched his study to MS development history. When talking about Mobile Suit research, there are many scientists who approach the subject from a strictly mechanical viewpoint.

At that time there were no other people researching the development and application of Mobile Suits and for a long time that aspect was not given a value. However, in the recent years there has been a trend in towards reassessing the importance of such resarch and it seems to be getting more attention. Reference from Mobile Suit Gundam 00V : Mission 01

An original character for sidestory, Mobile Suit Gundam 00V.
